RYA Powerboat Intermediate course
The 2 day RYA Intermediate Powerboat Course provides the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat for longer distances. If you've always stayed relatively close to 'home' this course will give you the skills and confidence to carry out more adventurous coastal passages.
Pre-requisites
Minimum age: 16
Prior knowledge: A level of practical boat handling skills and theory equivalent to the powerboat level 2 course.
Course Content
- Navigation, bearings & distance, charts & symbols
- Tides
- Use of almanacs
- Use of marina locks
- Principals of GPS/ Chart plotters
- Meterology
- Waypoint navigation
- Emergency situations
- Boat preparation
- Boat handling to a higher level including effect of waves, rougher conditions, handling in wind/tide
- Pilotage, passage making practical application
- Man overboard recovery techniques
