Who's the workshop for?
Current RYA Powerboat Instructors, Inland Powerboat Instructors wishing to extend their knowledge and those looking to complete the RYA Powerboat Instructor Course.
Why?
Dependant on your background (for example if you predominately boat in an inland environment), you may find that you are erring on the side of caution when it comes to delivering shorebased coastal navigation sessions during the RYA Powerboat Level 2 course for fear of being 'caught out' by one of your students. Acknowledging our personal knowledge pit-falls is one of the hardest things we all have to do in our careers...and trust me when i say we have all been there!
You can of course opt to self study to bring your background knowledge up, or complete the RYA Essential Navigation & Seamanship online course but even better would be to have an experienced RYA Instructor Trainer offer you some teaching ideas, solutions and top tips on how to meet the syllabus requirements, get the best out of your sessions and for yourself and your students to enjoy it along the way..
What's involved?
Prior to the session the participants will be asked to complete a form which will identify the areas they wish to work on to ensure the session covers the subjects desired.
Subject examples are: Charts & important symbols, Buoyage, Tides, Weather, Pilotage & Passage Planning, GPS/Chart Plotters, IRPCS, Emergency Actions, Hull Types & Engine Drives, Preventing Hook Turns.
If you're heading towards your RYA Advanced Powerboat Exam or RYA Advanced Powerboat Instructor course and need to gain more night navigation hours this is certainly something we can assist you with. RYA Trainer and/or RYA Examiner led sessions ensure that you will take part in sessions that focus on building up your night navigation skills in preparation for your Advanced CoC exam or Advanced Powerboat Instructor Course.

Who's the workshop for?
Current RYA Powerboat, PWC or Dinghy Instructors, those preparing to complete an RYA Instructor Course
Why?
Though many of us have the confidence to deliver sessions in what we deem as our 'comfortable environment' which usually means we are afloat, we don't necessarily feel entirely happy delivering sessions when the 'eyes are all on us' ashore. These sessions offer generic skills to develop your skills to confidently deliver sessions in a shorebased environment. The shorebased teaching skills sessions are run by an RYA Instructor who is also qualified Teacher or an experienced and dynamic RYA instructor with many successful years in the industry.
